Another tool in the toolbox: When large, rich corporations incorporate AI and start firing workers, maybe it'll finally be time to strike for a shorter workweek (not just less time, but less work too) at the same pay, and force them to hire those fired workers back. Keep people employed so we don't wind up with 50% percent unemployment or worse.
I kind of like the total walkout the women did in Iceland fifty years ago. It seems quite a lot of progress was made, and it was remarkably better for them after that. There is a documentary, “The Day Iceland Stood Still”, 2024, floating around Europe and a few select film festivals in the US. We need that film aired everywhere in the states.
