BILLIONAIRES: The Symptom And Cause Of America’s Decay
They’re the ultimate manifestation of a deeper sickness. And worse - they’re spreading it like a disease.
America used to have a basic moral framework. Work hard, treat people fairly, help your neighbor. And for that, you’ll get a decent wage, be able to raise your family in affordable housing, take them on vacation and send the kids to college. Middle class communities were thriving. It wasn’t perfect, but there was a shared belief that greed was abhorrent and that extreme wealth hoarding was not only immoral, it was a crime against humanity.
I know America has always been fascinated with wealth and opulence. But the 1980s ushered in a level of excess the country had never seen. The billionaire class hijacked the American Dream while convincing American families that it was our idea. Shaping society to worship greed and idolize wealth gave way to selling your own mother for a hot stock tip being a prerequisite for working at Lehman. Keep your wife medicated and obsessed with her weight and your children home alone playing these new video games while we siphon off every hour of your spare time that you should be spending with them so you can die of a heart attack at 47 in your 4th floor (if you were lucky) office. We were turned on by technology, tuned in to Dallas and Miami Vice and we dropped out of Peace and Love. It was Planet Me in America. And it spread like wildfire.
All programmed to make us not only fall in line, but beg to be the first ones in it.
After they made even more money in the dot com boom, they began using the internet to divide us further. Instead of connection, social media has cultivated hopelessness and loneliness. People have followers, not friends. We are a population of trends and reposts. We spend hours a day participating in algorithms that radicalize us into echo chambers. This is a billionaires wet dream because isolated people don’t organize. We became fat and bloated from filling the empty holes we were told were inside of us because that’s what is inside a billionaire where their souls should be.
They didn’t grow up in loving families, they grew up in competition and isolation. Instead of being loved for who they are, they were conditioned to perform in cold and transactional families. Instead of forming real lasting deep connections with people, they learned how to dominate. Not only was empathy something to suppress, they almost certainly wouldn’t recognize it if it were a bright pink cybertruck. They are blind to empathy and they don’t understand why you aren’t, too.
The endgame? A world completely devoid of it. This isn’t just about economics and power. This is a systematic stripping of our humanity so that we won’t recognize it, either. This is an assault on mercy and compassion. Spiritual warfare. Call it whatever you want, but billionaires have disconnected us from each other and our own consciousness and they have corrupted the soul of this nation. For generations, they have trained us to see suffering as normal, greed as ambition, and selfishness as wisdom. They are the symptom of a nation that no longer values people-only profit. A nation that believes success means winning at all costs, no matter who suffers. That you must step on others to achieve your goal. That if you can’t afford what they are selling, then it’s a personal failure, not a rigged game.
“If you’re poor, it’s your own damn fault.”
And that spiritual rot spreads. Regular people start thinking like billionaires. Keeping up with the Jones’ becomes a social experiment in narcissism and we start side-eyeing each other. Treating one another like our worth is dependent on what we can get out of each other. It infects everything. The way we talk to each other. The way we behave at work. With friends. As parents. Everything slowly becomes transactional until we no longer recognize our humanity and when we do, we classify it as weak. Unimportant. We become obsessed with hoarding and self-interest. Look at how Americans behaved during Covid. All of us were out of toilet paper because we were hoarding it from each other for fuck’s sake. We’ve idolized our oppressors. We’ve been driven insane by class combat.
Listen. I understand empathy is not profitable. A billionaire’s entire existence is built on hoarding wealth and power. You cannot be a billionaire and have empathy at the same time. One would have to acknowledge that his fortune was not earned, it was inherited and extracted. From workers. From tax loopholes. From rigged systems, crisis profiteering and corruption. Empathy cannot exist when your entire life is built on crushing others. Billionaires not only lack empathy, they have trained themselves to suppress it and they use ours as a weapon against us. Gaslighting human beings is much easier than having to look in the mirror. They turned their empathy off like a spigot. It’s self-preservation for them. You can’t force them to wake up. They have to choose to feel again, and most of them never will. If they truly allowed themselves to experience the weight of what they have done, to really feel the suffering their wealth has created, how they have used their power to exploit every person on Earth they possibly could, their entire world view would collapse. That’s why the fight so hard against accountability. If they had real empathy, the would have to pay fair wages instead of treating workers like disposable cogs. They would have to pay their taxes instead of hiding their billions offshore. They would have to stop price-gouging instead of making basic survival a luxury. The final fig leaf: They would have to give up their power. And what fun is being a billionaire if you can’t control politicians like chess pieces?
I don’t pretend to know what could make a person like Elon Musk say “The fundamental weakness in western civilization is empathy”. That’s not something a normal human being should ever say. ESPECIALLY not one with his finger on all of our money and private information. Empathy is not a computer glitch and it is not an exploit, you dick. I am not a doctor and I in no way am trying to diagnose another, ahem, “human”, but that is not autism. That is sociopathy. That is malignant narcissism. Holy shit.
That is what a man would say who doesn’t know what real love is. I don’t need to see one clip of his mother to know she’s a real piece of shit. No person who grew up experiencing what love truly is thinks empathy is a weakness. Could you IMAGINE raising children with this perspective? And he’s got 14 of them so far? Great. 14 more sociopathic narcissists in America. Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes is now a misfire in genetics? The most basic of evolved human traits is a weakness we need to Neurolink our way out of because it serves no purpose and gets in the way of winning? This man and the men like him are poised to control this entire planet, wreck our nation, and then berate us for not thanking them. We should be grateful for our crumbs. I mean what the fuck. This is who we’ve ALLOWED to take over? This is who we’ve been holding the door open for? Men who wreck our livelihoods and markets for the lulz? We’re PAYING these assholes for this? THESE are the golden calves?
Now multiply this by the power of Amazon, Meta, DOGE and a Trump second term and tell me what the country is about to go through. This is how they’re going to run the entire country. Department of Education? Fuck ‘ em. Veteran’s Affairs? Fuck ‘ em. Canada and Mexico? Fuck them, too. How about the highest court in the land? Does no case deserve empathy, compassion, or mercy? What the fuck, America.
How do we even get people to give a shit about one another again? We just lived through millions of Americans voting to take the rights away from millions more after surviving a years-long pandemic that killed a million of us and left the rest collectively traumatized with atrocious social skills. We have never been divided like this in modern times. These are uncharted societal waters. Millennials, Gen Z and Gen Alpha have grown up in a world where empathy is a liability and cynicism is king. They’ve seen endless war. ENDLESS. Mass shootings at their school is just a random Tuesday. The economy has imploded-TWICE. The planet is literally catching fire and these fucking ass billionaires are hoarding all the money and resources while everyone suffers and starves. And through ALL of it, all these generations hear from their leaders is “When I was your age, I had a house and 2 kids.”
“No one is coming to save you.”
“You’re Lazy.”
“ This is just how the world works, snowflake.”
And now you want them to give a shit about this place? After THIS election?
It isn’t too late. Empathy isn’t dead. It’s just buried under violence, indifferent leadership, unaffordable housing, and student loan debt. Right now, caring is cringe. Apathy is armor. You’re mocked for having very human responses to pain and suffering. You’re a Libtard. You’re “woke”. It doesn’t matter what it is. Climate anxiety, poverty stress, mental health struggles or political rage. You are actively losing aura points if you give a shit about anything in 2025. Cynicism and apathy are the billionaire’s greatest weapons. If we believe nothing will change, we’ll never fight back. For their bullshit racket to work, they need us thinking our efforts are futile. That the system is too corrupt. But those are lies. Every movement in history- from civil rights to labor unions to suffrage, hell even back to the Boston Harbor started when We The People rejected those lies.
It’s time to take our power back. If we don’t start giving a shit in 2025, there won’t be an America left in 2028. There are things we can do every day to channel that rage we all feel at watching our country crumble. Positive ways to rebel. 2025 is the Year of The People.
We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.
They’re expecting us to get violent. This will allow Trump to declare Martial Law and the next thing you know, the Constitution is suspended and we all end up on the trains to the camps with no election in sight. We must stand up wisely. We must get creative with our protests. Showing up for your rights should be part of the culture of America, the aesthetic. Activism should be a flex in 2025. We’re FINALLY getting right with the generational trauma that has plagued this nation for over 400 years, let’s bury it for good. We are done being gaslit into jobs we hate, relationships we hate, lives we hate while the ultra rich are out in the world dismantling bridges so their yachts can pass through. Excuse me? Sandra and her 3 kids on food stamps are NOT the problem here. Homeless veterans are NOT the problem here. Ethel and her $800 Social Security check are NOT the problem. It’s time to tear down their green paper empire brick by stack by stick.
The Billionaire’s kryptonite is organizing. They want to break us so we submit for life. Does that sound American to you?
How do we do it?
📢 Support workers and unions. If you’re in a job with a union option, join it. If you’re not, support strikes however you can. Boycott companies with active strikes, donate to strike funds, amplify union messaging online, honk when you drive by a picket line. The biggest gains for workers in U.S. history came from strikes, not from kind-hearted billionaires.
📢 Starve billionaire-owned corporations. They get rich by controlling what we consume. Amazon, oil, banks, social media, legacy media. We can’t avoid them entirely, but we can bleed them dry. Cancel unnecessary subscriptions. Every dollar we keep in our communities is a dollar they don’t steal from us.
📢 Turn politics into a weapon for The People. They’ve bought Congress, but they haven’t bought all of us. Call your reps. Every damn day. Send emails. Use your social media platforms, no matter how small, to yell it from the digital rooftops: Lex Luthor and his band of unloved idiots gotta go.
📢 Make activism a cultural reset. Protesting should be as American as Grunge and baseball. Silently protest where you keep your money. Move it to credit unions and out of the big banking system that bankrolls corruption.
📢 Run for office. Start local. Local wins happen faster than national ones. We need leaders who offer solutions, not just hold up signs and censure the true patriots who stand up and speak out against this Godawful administration.
📢 Rebuild real-life communities. Join an activist group online, engage in social meet ups and local movements. We must normalize showing up for each other IRL and we must push back against hyper-individualism and remind people that we need each other.
📢 Turn your back on mainstream media and embrace independent journalism. If you see misinformation being spread online, post the facts to keep it from spreading any further.
Big change starts with small wins. Start sharing and posting about YOUR small wins. Build a community of digital activists that share your struggles and want to amplify you. By sharing and boosting each other, it helps quell the feelings of isolation, hopelessness and despair. I can’t tell you how many times I pull up your Voicemails from The People’s Hotline just to boost my mood. I know it feels like we’re screaming into the ether, but we’re not. Your voice matters. It needs to be heard. It IS being heard.
Billionaires weren’t born evil, they were taught to be this way. They were trained, shaped, and conditioned to see the world as a game and people as expendable. And that’s exactly why we can’t let their way of thinking infect the rest of us. Once you lose empathy, once you believe that winning is all that matters and start treating people as Things, you lose everything that makes you human. The billionaires have had their turn.
2025 is The Year of The People. The year of The Dangerous Ones. The year we stop apologizing for giving a shit about our fellow Americans. The year we reclaim our power. The fight against billionaires isn’t a one-time protest. It’s not just one election, one boycott, one strike. It’s a sustained movement that wears them down. Their empire won’t collapse overnight, but billions in lost revenue adds up.
They don’t grow our food. They don’t build our homes. They don’t teach our kids or heal our sick or fix our roads.
We The People Do. We built this country. We are its backbone, its lifeblood, its fire. They think they can rule forever. It’s time to remind them that every empire falls.
This is seriously so, so good, Tiffany!!!
Really exceptional writing. I think it explains why people are so stupidly obsessed with buying lottery tickets, despite the odds of winning being slim to none. Your work makes it clear what a risk it would be to even get that rich.
