The article was talking about conservatives and liberals, I believe the point is bringing the non extremists from both parties back to a playing field of understanding there are differences but working toward mutual compromise and agreement. You wont be able to break through to most EXTREMISTS, on either side.
I'm familiar with the psychology of the political divide. There are aspects to this article that are not explored. Mostly, that when people on the far right "feel safe", they are an important part of society that slows growth down which is often a very positive action for the greater good.
However, when they are filled with hate for the "other" or do not have a quality education level or are being manipulated by religious reckless authority they are absolutely dangerous. Whether they are the Taliban, Nazis, or the many horrible authoritarian governments and far right movements that have ruled by murder, torture, financial grifters and insane ideologues. The Right Is Usually Always the Biggest Danger to All Societies! Show me all the dangerous Liberal Societies that promoted equality, education and religious freedom that turned out to be oppressive? Good luck with that.
I’m old and remember when there where two parties and all this nasty comments didn’t exist. Actually the internet didn’t exist. I honestly wonder if that culture has something to do with all the mad attitude that seems to prevail in politics.
Every time I watch this podcast I am hopeful that there might be some useful information. I have heard about this psychological divide between liberals and conservatives and that is fairly useful. We need to find a common language to talk with one another. We also need to listen to each other. But when we don't talk about the specifics of what unites us, which is our impossible struggle to survive in oligarchy and our love of the constitutional order and you want to keep slapping these meaningless labels of right and left on us, then the conversation ceases to be very useful. You cannot bring back a center to platform that is in collapse. That is a losing strategy. Trump was elected because everyday, working people have given up on the system working for them and they voted to blow it up. If we want to achieve the kind of systemic change we must have for the survival of our grandchildren then we must communicate to vast numbers of people in a way that captures their imagination and inspires them to join together in a mass movement that is all about our collective right to survive. This conversation that you have just aired does nothing to actually accomplish that. We need a political class that actually understands and meets this moment and your dismissal of AOC and others who you label far left shows just how much you miss this point. It does not feel like your guest is actually listening to the people that are crying out and demanding justice and accountability.
In what universe do the terms “duty, order, loyalty, and stability” describe anyone in the MAGA administration?
you forgot about the personality traits of cruelty and savagery. And “conscientiousness” is not a thing anymore among republicans

Maybe just a cleanup of the offspring of the first civil war traitors.
That’s a scary logic there
