SCANDAL: Republicans KILL American Public Broadcasting
The GOP's wet dream of ending unbiased public service journalism is coming to fruition.
Today, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced it will shut down. After 60 years as the backbone of more than 1,500 NPR and PBS stations, CPB has been gutted and defunded.
This is not “fiscal responsibility”—it is sabotage. Republicans ended public service journalism, erased educational programming, and destroyed the last major media system not controlled by billionaires or hate-driven profit models.
Republicans committed an unforgivable act of bigoted arson. This isn’t a footnote. It’s a full-scale demolition of America’s last non-commercial information infrastructure—with deadly consequences.
A Blowtorch to Truth, Equity, and Safety
Public media stood as a firewall against corporate lies and political propaganda. For decades, CPB’s modest funding powered everything from Sesame Street to wildfire alerts. It was a classroom, a lifeline, and a cultural glue.
Republicans torched it—and the first to burn are the most vulnerable.
Rural Americans, Tribal Nations, and the Great Silencing
Rural and tribal communities will be hit first and hardest. Many stations rely on CPB for half their budgets—some even more. These aren’t luxuries. They are the only source of news, education, and emergency warnings.
When disaster strikes—fire, flood, blackout—it isn’t Fox or CNN getting the word out. It’s public radio, running on scraps and public trust.
Kill the signal, and people die. That is not speculation—it’s math. In 2024 alone, public media reached 18 million people with life-saving alerts. Private media won’t replace it. There isn’t profit in serving communities Republicans already abandoned.
Educational and Civic Carnage
This wasn’t just an attack on public broadcasting—it was an attack on the future of our children and democracy itself.
More than half of American kids lack formal pre-K. Public media filled the gap with research-backed programs like Molly of Denali, Daniel Tiger, and Sesame Street. They raised literacy, improved emotional learning, and gave low-income kids a shot. Now they are gone—silenced by Republican spite.
Meanwhile, local newsrooms are vanishing, and public media was often the last one standing. As stations fall, news deserts grow, turnout plummets, corruption thrives, and truth is replaced by rage-bait and conspiracy.
When the lights go out in local journalism, democracy goes with them.
A National Disgrace Fueled by Ideological Vandalism
CPB wasn’t expensive. It was efficient. Every federal dollar brought in four more from communities and philanthropy. In return, we got classical music, children’s education, Indigenous storytelling, and trusted emergency communication.
Republicans torched all of it. With the stroke of a pen, they obliterated a legacy of service, equity, and truth. CPB staff gone by September. Local stations will collapse. And the people who need them most will be left in the dark.
This isn’t governance. It’s destruction for sport.
The Republican defunding of CPB is a a stain on American history —an assault on truth, education, and democracy.
We are not just losing Big Bird. We are losing the last media space that serves the public good.
This is a war on knowledge. On community. On survival.
We must fight back—fiercely, relentlessly, and together.
📣 Reinstate CPB.
📣 Flood Republicans with calls and emails.
📣 Name and shame every lawmaker who voted to kill public media.
📣 Raise hell everywhere truth is still heard.
Because without public media, we lose the public square itself.
And we are not going quietly.
Oh no we are not going quietly the whole nation will come after the Republicans me included! Oh no way we are having a White supremacy nation not we are going to say about it!
Can the public rush to provide funding?
