So many great points here! Starting with - we are the ones we've been waiting for - We the People have enormous power. And we have to start doing things differently!
A year ago, after 10 years of doing canvassing, phone-banking, text-banking, post-carding, fundraising, endless social media posts of facts, my GenZ daughter and I decided there had to be a better way to reach young voters.
🍩🗳️ So we launched a program called Donuts + Democracy across the US to mobilize young voters. In one month, we hosted 200+ events across more than 20 states and 75+ college campuses, engaging 55,000+ students with our youth GOTV partners. We accomplished this with no staff, no website and no social media. We repeated the success with the Wisconsin Supreme Ct election in April 2025.
👉After the election though, we weren’t sure we wanted to keep going, but what we heard from student organizers changed our minds: our support increased their voter engagement by 10X on average and they all immediately went back to work - committed as every to mobilizing young voters! So we could not abandon them.
💫 For anyone needs inspiration and hope - check out our latest newsletter with links to our website, socials and house party recording! (We hosted our first house party last Sunday with Rep. Jamie Raskin and three of our amazing student organizers and we were flooded with "This is the first time I've felt hopeful and inspired in 9 months!) Hey Guys I am involved in both the Spanberger and Sherill campaign as a tech person for the phone banks will do everything we can to make sure they can will!
I love it. I especially love how it is framed not solely in terms of blue states but in terms of anyone who wants to be a part of it.
As a local organizer for Indivisible, I organize, I resist, and I participate in mutual aid. I want to expand my work to building a better future. How can we make use of the millions of people that groups like Indivisible and 50501 have networked and mobilized in this shadow government? I don't want the usual "call your congressperson," or "donate to these accounts," or "run for office" same old same old. We are doing those things. I am not content to tell someone to do something and hope they listen. I want to actually do something. We have a huge network of people who want to build a better future - let's use that!
Thank you so much for this. Yes, we must create a higher level of organization and coordination. Indivisible has done amazing work, along with other organizations. I’m calling for the blue trifecta governors to create exactly this kind of organization. Not governmental but with the resources of state governments behind it. Once again, no one alive has ever had to think as big as we must think now. It’s a steep learning curve with little time!
Yes - we need to be building coalitions. And it has to be a big umbrella and include unions and more progressive organizations (Working Families Party, etc,) that have given up on the Democratic party.
Is this idea being shared with sympathetic actors, musicians and athletes? I hear some of them have some money.....maybe they could pitch into a "shadow" FEMA or legal defense fund or whatever issue is closest to their hearts. I'm sure many of them are doing things on their own, but imagine the multiplier effect if their efforts and co tributes were organized.

You sound just like the other guys butt in blue..
Wow. How did we get here?
Why do we chain ourselves with these extreme labels?
These labels were largely given to us before we even realize they were being instilled
I am surprised to hear this type of extremism coming from this organization
You came out and said that the only way with democrat run states and having those states flex their muscles …
Our country will not move forward at all if all we do is fan the flames
I believe Democrats are better stronger and more resilient than doing nothing more than just tossing major labels on the other side
Yes do it.
I'm eager to hear more. Where do I and others sign up?
