The Democratic Party has advanced the significant social progress we've seen since Civil Rights legislation was passed in the mid-1960s. The Republican Party seems intent on taking us back in time when the U.S. was more bigoted and unequal, and hugely more segregated.
After the Civil Rights Act, one party fought to end Jim Crow; the other invited him to join the GOP and handed him a megaphone. Turns out, when you lose the Confederacy once, you just rebrand it.
